After the gold rush

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

I was lying in a burned out basement , with the full moon in my eyes.
I was hoping for replacement when the sun burst thru the sky.
There was a band playing in my head and I felt like getting high.
I was thinking about what a friend had said I was hoping it was a lie.
Thinking about what a friend had said I was hoping it was a lie.

Isn’t that just one of the best songs, Neil Young…ah, but lets give a shout out to all our Canadian athletes that won gold for Canada.  Wow.  That’s where this post was supposed to be going, but thinking about the gold got me thinking about what happens after the gold.  It’s like most things in life really, they are these roller coasters of highs and low.  Beleive me, I’ve had many of them, but have learned to appreciate the ride up and the ride down.  It’s all about the experience, the trip.

I wanted to talk a little bit about the upcoming perfomers for Musical Expressions

Ricky Francisco is this coming Saturday, March 13th, then Karen Larson is April 3rd and Rob Fillo is May 1st so hope you’ll be able to come out and enjoy the great music by these artists.  All 3 are from Richmond, so am really proud of that!  Until next time, give each other a hug, be kind to the earth and do something nice for someone today, random acts of kindness are great for the karma pool

Next ME show is Saturday March 13th with Ricky Francisco..til next time

How many more sleeps

Monday, January 11th, 2010

Tonight on the 6 pm CTV news, they are doing a segment on the Ozone events in Richmond BC for the 2010 games.  I am so honoured to be performing at the opening ceremonies with  The Jardines that is my daughter Ajaye, Kirk Douglas, Doug Liddle, Ricky Francisco, Michael Flunkert, Scott Pauley and Marc Gladstone .  It’s going to be an amazing event, there is a 3000 member child choir that is on just before us.  We will be releasing our new self titled cd The Jardines on that day to a world wide audience.  Stay through the night to catch my keyboard player Marc Gladstones band-The Brandon Paris Band.

Also, on Sunday Feb 21st, at the Ozone, Main stage, I’m presenting an evening of Musical Expressions with some of my favourite bands from the series past 6 years.  Mud Dog starts the show at 3 pm, followed by Kelly Brock at 4.  Then the gold medal hockey play off will be shown unti 7:30, when Babe Gurr hits the stage, followed Swank at 8:30, then Dustin Bentall Outfit at 9:30.  I will be performing inbetween the evening bands with fellow band mate Ricky Francisco.  I really hope everyone can come out, the events are free and there is going to be so much to take in.  The Canada line sky train will drop you off 1 block away, so you don’t have to worry about parking.  This may be my last post until after the games, you can contact me directly for more info!

2010 my friends

Friday, January 1st, 2010

I know that I only posted yesterday, but here I am again, inspired and full of hope.  When I woke up this morning, the rain was coming down gently on my loft window  and my 1st waking breath was deep as I took in the smell and freshness, crispness of the new days air.   I shook off the covers and layt there, with the cold air coming through my bedroom patio door, I marvelled at the way my body reacted, although cold air bounced over me, causing me to shiver, I felt strangely warm and comforted.  The air was a breath of fresh air that introduced me to the new day, a day filled with endless adventures.  I am so appreciative of spending yet another day on this amazing plane.  Til next time, don’t forget to smell the flowers along the way!!  Peace, joy and love….cj

Happy New Year

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

As we head into a new decade, I wish everyone an amazing year, filled with all you desire. This is the turning point for me, I feel the universe opening up, or maybe it’s just me opening up to the universe  New cd coming out in Feb with my new band “The Jardines”, starting up a new indie record company here in Vancouver in the spring-for female artists, with my Producer Kirk Douglas, it’s really my time to shine.

The big Olympic show on Feb 12th at 4:30 is going to be amazing.  Our performance will be broadcast on the big screens at BC Place and in Whistler, just before their main event, so over 60,000 people will be watching us live, plus it will be on CTV, so it will be shown all over the world.  What a great cd release party!!

Hope everyone can come out or at least tune in to the show.  I’ll let you know about live feeds etc as we get closer

In peace, love and harmony

a rainy November day

Monday, November 16th, 2009

It’s raining and I love the sound of the rain as it hits on my loft windows, it’s really quite soothing as I have pen and paper in hand, poised to write another song.  I’ve been concentrating so hard on the new cd as of late, haven’t had time to write but with the end of recording now in sight, I can take some time to let the words flow.  We are  finishing up with the vocals and mixing  on the next few weekends and  then it’s handed over to get reproduced.  Nathan Schubert that did this great site, will be creating The Jardines site as well as the cd packaging.  Gino Pezzani did another great job on pictures for the cd and the website, as well as Amanda Siebert, whose pictures will be presented in an album on the website

Looking forward to having the band perform at the Olympics in February, hope you can come out and cheer us on!!

Til next time
